Boston, Ma. - The Forum Restaurant, ground zero right where the Norden Brothers were standing at the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013.
As a family that was so personally and deeply affected by the horrific terrorist acts occurring on April 15, 2013 at the Boston Marathon, we believe we are somewhat responsible for determining and living the Boston Strong approbation. It is true, we were not the originators and we did not coin the phrase, but we certainly endorsed and validated this magnificent and deserving mantra. Our family had two brothers who were seriously wounded, burned and each left without their right legs that were blown off at the scene. They also had several friends that were severely injured and will live with their own scars, injuries and emotional scare for the rest of their lives.
Many people involving law enforcement, firefighters, EMS, medical personnel, marathon volunteers, military trainees and civilians became heroes and life savers, some whom will never ever be officially recognized due to their humble and unselfish want for attention. These people, along with the survivors, the victims and especially the civilians is exactly why the watchword “ Boston Strong” has morphed into a proud and accepted axiom.
Additionally, in our humble opinion, we believe the words “BOSTON STRONG” are more than a cliché or dictum. We see it as more than just a label or a comparison for a sports team although significantly related. We think of Boston Strong as a living, breathing, and heart beating pulse of enormous proportion.
